PRP Treatment

Platelet-Rich Plasma

What is PRP Treatment?

PRP is an acronym for Platelet-Rich Plasma. Platelet-Rich Plasma is plasma with a higher amount of platelets than that found regularly.

PRP Treatment, also called a “vampire facelift”, is a way to naturally revitalize and reinvigorate an individual’s appearance. This procedure is completely safe and clinically proven. It is practical and effective, often performed in conjunction with Halo, Profractional, Venus Viva, micro needling, and other laser resurfacing treatments.

PRP Treatment is a natural way to recover and enhance the shape, tone, and texture of the skin. It is indeed a way to completely refresh one’s skin. This treatment can help many individuals that have noticed issues with their skin. PRP Treatment can help with a variety of skin issues. A few examples include dark circles or puffiness under the eyes; fine lines and sagging around the mouth, cheeks, and eyes; and skin that has begun to look dull, unhealthy, or weak.

Why Does PRP Treatment Work?

Platelet-Rich Plasma is created by each individual’s body. PRP Treatment begins by drawing blood from an individual and separating the platelets. This is done by placing the blood into a small sterile tube and spun to induce separation. The centrifugal force of the spinning separates the red and white blood cells from the platelets and plasma. This leaves a plasma rich in platelets, or PRP.

The reason this PRP is so effective is the role platelets play in the human body. Platelets are the cells in the body that help heal tissues and generate new cells. Injecting PRP into the skin boosts collagen growth and encourages tissue regeneration in that area of the skin. This naturally smoothens and tightens that area. This ultimately relaxes the skin and creates a soft, smooth texture and tone.

Proven and Safe

PRP Treatment is not a new thing. PRP has been used in various fields of medicine including orthopedic medicine, dentistry, and reconstructive surgery. These benefits can now be applied to dermatology, skin wound healing, and cosmetic facial rejuvenation.

Studies dating back as far as 30 years show the benefits of PRP on collagen regrowth. More recent studies show that PRP can actually help with sun damaged and aging skin as well.

PRP Treatment is proving to be safer and more effective than previous treatments. Hyaluronic acid fillers like Restylane and Juvederm are common treatments used. They work by filling in lines and skin folds with a solid material. This filler is supposed to soften deeper lines around the mouth and plump lips. However, the longevity of this is only 6-18 months. Therefore, an individual needs repeated treatments.

An Improved System

PRP uses components already within the human body to stimulate collagen regrowth and tissue regeneration. PRP aims to rejuvenate the entire face, whereas hyaluronic acid fillers only target individual wrinkles. PRP does not just target one individual aspect of facial revitalization. The variety of things PRP targets includes volumization of the face, plumpness of cheeks, and softness of the eyes. PRP also aims to improve skin tone, tightness, and texture. PRP gets into the areas that hyaluronic acid cannot.

PRP not only does more than hyaluronic acid fillers, it can also work in conjunction with them. Restylane or Juvederm can be used to supplement PRP. Working together, they can provide the most youthful facial appearance. Restylane and Juvederm target specific lines and folds, while PRP works to provide an overall improvement to volume, fullness, and skin tone. PRP can be used with a variety of other treatments: laser treatments, microdermabrasion, chemical peels, Restylane, Juvederm, BOTOX Cosmetic, and/or Dysport. Working with other treatments, PRP can provide the best outcome for each individual and better achieve the final objective of younger, healthier looking skin.

What is PRP Treatment Like?

PRP Treatment in Columbus, Dayton and Beavercreek, Ohio includes the initial blood draw. The blood is then put into the centrifuge to separate platelets and plasma. The individual’s skin must be cleaned and prepared for treatment while the PRP is being prepared. Injections of the PRP are then done, taking just a few moments and bringing about only mild discomfort. The procedure takes about 15 minutes and is relatively painless. There is no extensive recovery time involved. There is no post-procedure care or interference with the daily routine. Individuals may experience mild swelling, redness, or bruising; however, that should only last up to 3 days. There is a minuscule chance of negative side effects since PRP is made from the human body and cells.

The overall objective of PRP is to provide better skin tone and texture, tighten the skin, smooth lines, and soften pores. Individuals can see results as soon as 3-4 weeks after their treatment. These results will also continue to improve with time. For optimal results, it is recommended that individuals receive three treatments, with one to two months between each treatment. After the initial treatments, it is also recommended that individuals receive maintenance treatments over time.
