Introducing The COVID-19 IgM/IgG Rapid Test

COVID-19 is the disease that’s caused by the new coronavirus that emerged in China in December of 2019. Common symptoms include cough, fever, shortness of breath, muscle aches, sore throat, unexplained loss of taste or smell, diarrhea, and headache.

Some people are asymptomatic or have very mild symptoms, which makes it difficult to know if you’ve ever been infected. With the new antibody test, you can see if you’ve had the virus, if you’re immune or building immunity, if you’ve never had the virus, or if you’re actively infected.

The COVID-19 IgM/IgG Rapid Test requires a simple finger-stick and one drop of blood. After just 10 minutes, our testing procedure can assist in determining if you have COVID-19 antibodies in your blood, which means you’re likely immune or building immunity to the virus. Peace of mind = priceless.

After just 10 minutes, you can find out if you have COVID-19 antibodies in your blood.

An Antibody Test VS. A Diagnostic Test

When you get sick with COVID-19, your body produces infection-fighting antibodies in your blood. The same thing happens when you get the flu or a vaccine. The antibody test isn’t specifically checking for the COVID-19 virus. Instead, it’s checking to see whether your body’s immune system has developed antibodies to fight the infection.

The COVID-19 IgM/IgG Rapid Test Kit from RayBiotech Lab checks for two kinds of antibodies: IgM and IgG.
IgM antibodies develop early in an infection, and IgG antibodies are more likely to show up later after you’ve recovered. It takes your body about 4 weeks to develop IgM antibodies, although more research is needed
for COVID-19.

Here’s What The Test Will Tell You

  • You have had the
    virus, may now be
    immune or building

  • You have never had
    the virus. (IgG
    negative result)

  • You are actively
    infected.
    (IgM positive result)

  • You are not
    actively infected
    (IgM negative result)

What Does CE-Marked Mean?

According to gov.uk, a “CE marking” is required for many products. It indicates that a product meets EU safety, health, and environmental requirements. It also indicates that a product is in compliance with EU legislation, and it allows for the free movement of products within the European market. You can learn more here.

In addition to being CE-marked, the COVID-19 IgM/IgG Rapid Test is used by FEMA, the state of New York, Emirates Air, and in Europe! Additionally, the most recent study with a sample size of 1,200+ patients proved that accuracy of combined IgM/IgG against the reference standards is 95.72%, with 97.22% specificity and 90.44% sensitivity.

The Antibody Test Requires 6 Simple Steps*

  • 1

Massage and/or shake the finger to stimulate blood flow to the collection area, then clean the finger pad that you’re going to prick with an alcohol swap.

  • 2

Firmly puncture the finger pad with a lancet, then create a large drop of blood by applying pressure at the base of the finger and massaging upwards.

  • 3

Squeeze the pipet bulb to expel air. Then, draw blood into the pipet by gently releasing the bulb. The pipet should be filled to the indicated line. Take care to avoid bubbles.

  • 4

Immediately transfer blood from the pipet into the sample diluent in tube, then mix the solution thoroughly by squeezing the pipet 3-5 times.

  • 5

Add 2-3 drops of the diluted blood sample to the pad section of the detection cassette, then apply an adhesive bandage to the finger.

  • 6

The test results can be interpreted in 5-10 minutes. Results measured after 20 minutes are invalid and should be discarded.

*Please note that a medical professional must oversee the administration of the COVID-19 antibody test. If you choose to administer the test at home, you must do so while video chatting with a Jiva Med Spa medical professional. Or, if you prefer, you may visit one of Jiva Med Spa’s two locations to have the test performed by a medical professional. The video chat and/or in-person appointment options are both included in the total cost of the test.
Quick Reference Guide

In Addition To The Antibody Test, You Can Help Slow The Spread Of COVID-19 By Taking The Following Precautions:

Clean your hands often, either with soap and water for 20 seconds or a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.

Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

Put distance between yourself and other people (at least 6 feet).

Cover your mouth and nose with a cloth face cover when around others.

Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.

Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces daily.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the antibody test used for?

This test is suitable for the qualitative detection of novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) IgM and IgG antibodies in human serum and whole blood. Common signs of a person infecte...d with a coronavirus include respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath, and dyspnea. In more severe cases, infection can cause pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), kidney failure, and even death. Coronavirus can be excreted through respiratory secretions or transmitted through oral fluids, sneezing, physical contact, and through air droplets.

  • Is this test for home use?

This is not an over-the-counter product for home use. The test must be administered by a licensed medical professional. However, it is a POC (point of care) test that does n...ot require sending samples to a lab. Therefore, the results can be obtained on-site at a clinic.

  • What is the difference between the finger prick and serum/whole blood kits?

The test cartridges and diluent provided in the finger prick and serum/whole blood kits are identical. The only difference is that the finger prick kit comes with materials ...necessary for capillary blood collection (lancets, alcohol swabs, bandages).

  • Are these tests covered by insurance?
Insurance coverage varies person to person. The patient's insurance company should be contacted to determine coverage and pricing.
  • Is this kit approved by the FDA?

These kits are for in vitro diagnostic use and have been submitted for Emergency Use Authorization following guidance from the FDA on March 16, 2020. The tests have not been... reviewed by the FDA and results from antibody testing should not be used as the sole basis to diagnose or exclude SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) infection or to inform infection status.

  • How accurate is the antibody test?
Our IgG/IgM rapid test kit have a 90.4% sensitivity (true positive) and a 98.3% specificity (true negative) rate.
  • What does a negative test result mean?

Negative results do not rule out SARS-CoV-2 infection, particularly in those who have been in contact with the virus. Follow-up testing with a molecular diagnostic should be... considered to rule out infection in these individuals. Results from antibody testing should not be used as the sole basis to diagnose or exclude SARS-CoV-2 infection or to inform infection status.

  • What does a positive test result mean?

Positive results may be due to past or present infection with non-SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus strains, such as coronavirus HKU1, NL63, OC43, or 229E. Coronavirus may not be detec...ted even though coronavirus antibodies are present in the sample, leading to a false negative. This may occur if the amount of coronavirus antibodies is below the detection level of the kit. Please note that if the product gets wet prior to use, or is stored improperly, it may cause incorrect results.
